There are simple steps that you can take to help eliminate unsightly belly fat.   The process isn&#8217;t a quick one, but with diligence and consistency, success can be achieved.  We&#8217;ll discuss a few of the steps here.</p>
<p>Key to solving this problem is learning to make the right food choices.  The food pyramid, the nutrition fact label, and portion size recommendations should all be as familiar as the birthdays of your children, or the stats of your favorite sports team!  Eating healthy, highly nutritious foods on a regular basis is a must!</p>
<p>Eliminating sweets from your diet is another important step.  This would especially include sweet drinks and drinks containing artificial sweeteners.  Water should be your main beverage of choice.  Skim milk and unsweetened tea are acceptable as well.  At the same time, severely limit sweet foods.  They provide nothing of value to the diet.</p>
<p>Probably the single most important factor in the battle against belly fat is an exercise program!  Weight training and target exercises should be two components, but the cardio workout is by far the most important.  A minimum of thirty minutes each day should be spent sweating, huffing and puffing!  Running, biking, playing basketball, jumping rope, swimming laps&#8230;all can be good cardio workouts.</p>
<p>Medical researchers have determined that a fat belly is most likely to develop in a stressed man of any age, and an older stressed women.  Therefore, it is absolutely imperative that you take steps to eliminate excess stress in your life!  Cortisol is a hormone that the body releases when stressed.  It is believed that this hormone encourages the storage of fat around the abdominal area and belly.  Learn relaxation techniques, find your inner yogi, or go fishing&#8230;but do not stress!</p>
<p>While other steps exist to aid in the elimination of this condition, these are by far the most significant ones.  It takes several months for the physical benefits to be evident, so patience is a must!  Following these steps consistently can eliminate or greatly reduce dangerous belly fat.</p>
